                                    A coin for a thought

Last GNCT lecture  on Thursday we did a funny activity in the class room. First our lecturer collect coins each other and put in to a purse in this activity. Then lecturer told us to pass it among us and when she tapped to the table person who hold the purse have to select a coin randomly. According to the this activity he had to check the year that is made and he had to do the speech about the incident that is occurred us in that year.
We could know other's very dangerous incident and funny incident because this activity. If i try to miss this chance I got a chance tell my memory to others. The year of the coin which I got is 2016. It is the my unforgotten year in my life. It is the year which did  the A\L examination in second shy. If all are think that is only very hard year, it is not to me. I had to go most amount of journey in my life during this year. Also i had to get funny from watch films in film hall with our friends. However I did not miss my studies though I got fun. Therefore I could to pass A\L examination and could to attend the University of Kelaniya as undergraduate Software Engineer.

                                                        Culture

Last GNCT lecture in last Thursday we did a very creative activity which name is Culture. We have to made up a new culture not in real world yet for that activity.
First lecturer divided our class in two team which team are contain 8 members. Anjana, Hassitha,Ashen,Pankajan,Chathmini,Sandali and me were the members of the our team. After the lecturer gave the introduction of the game, gave some idea to how do that. We had to 4 task to do this activity. That are
  • Give the name to the our living land and language which contain our new culture
  • National anthem
  • Song
  • Dance
  • Any activities of their lives
Therefore we had to design those tasks with creatively. We were given enough time to prepare our activity. So we create a new culture. The name of the our living area is "Hubalanthaya".
Our language huba huba language. However we made a new culture. But we can not present it very well because our members were very shy and we could not practice before the activity well. But we could to complete the all task of this activity.

                                                            Leadership

Steven Paul Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, California. His unwed biological parents, Joanne Schieble and Abdulfattah Jandali, put him up for adoption. Steve was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs, a lower-middle-class couple, who moved to the suburban city of Mountain View a couple of years later.
The Santa Clara county, south of the Bay Area, became known as Silicon Valley in the early 1950s after the sprouting of a myriad of semi-conductor companies. As a result, young Steve Jobs grew up in a neighborhood of engineers working on electronics and other gizmos in their garages on weekends. This shaped his interest in the field as he grew up. At age 13, he met one the most important persons in his life: 18-year-old Stephen Wozniak, an electronics wiz kid, and, like Steve, an incorrigible prankster.
Woz, whose interest in electronics had grown stronger, was regularly attending meetings of a group of early computer hobbyists called the Homebrew Computer Club. They were the real pioneers of personal computing, a collection of radio jammers, computer professionals and enlightened amateurs who gathered to show off their latest prowess in building their own personal computer or writing software. The club started to gain popularity after the Altair 8800 personal computer kit came out in 1975.
The knowledge that Woz gathered at the Homebrew meetings, as well as his exceptional talent, allowed him to build his own computer board — simply because he wanted a personal computer for himself. Steve Jobs took interest, and he quickly understood that his friend's brilliant invention could be sold to software hobbyists, who wanted to write software without the hassle of assembling a computer kit. Jobs convinced Wozniak to start a company for that purpose: Apple Computer was born on April 1, 1976.
However, because of his hot temper and his relative inexperience in technology or management, Steve jobs was thrown out of the Lisa project. He felt absolutely crushed by this decision. As a revenge, he took over a small project called Macintosh, a personal computer that was supposed to be a cheap appliance, 'as easy to use as a toaster'. In 1981, Steve Jobs became head of the Macintosh project, and decided to make it a smaller and cheaper version of the Lisa, complete with a GUI of folders, icon and drop-down menus, and a mouse.
This is very short description about his life. We can get many attitudes to iur lives. I also would like to be  a man like this person because he could to face the challengers successfully.

Emerging Technology Trends

In the age of disruption, businesses and their leaders will rise or fall based on their ability to spot and creatively respond to rapid technological change. Some companies notice an emerging technology and take a “wait and see” attitude. Others see a new technology and take action. They begin experimenting, making small bets, and learning.

On 3rd of July 2018 there was an important session on "emerging technology trends" for our GNCT program at University of Kelaniya. This session was organized by our GNCT lecture Mrs.Sarasi Senadhera
This session was conducted by Mr.Srinath Perera who is a VP researcher at WSO2. It was started at 10.00am and ended at 12 noon.
All the Software Engineering Students in our University has participated to this session.
It was a really important session for us. We learned about many new technologies. First he talked about History of trends. Then he discuss on Gartner Hype cycle. It describes how a technology improving. The session was mainly focused on current trends and emerging trends.

Current trends

API

An application program interface (API) is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications. Basically, an API specifies how software components should interact. Additionally, APIs are used when programming graphical user interface (GUI) components. A good API makes it easier to develop a program by providing all the building blocks. A programmer then puts the blocks together.

AI

AI (artificial intelligence) is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. These processes include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using the information), reasoning (using the rules to reach approximate or definite conclusions) and self-correction. Particular applications of AI include expert systems, speech recognition and machine vision.

IOT

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and connectivity which enables these things to connect and exchange data, creating opportunities for more direct integration of the physical world into computer-based systems, resulting in efficiency improvements, economic benefits, and reduced human exertions.

BOTS

An Internet Bot, also known as web robot, WWW robot or simply -bot-, is a software application that runs automated tasks (scripts) over the Internet.[1] Typically, bots perform tasks that are both simple and structurally repetitive, at a much higher rate than would be possible for a human alone. The largest use of bots is in web spidering (web crawler), in which an automated script fetches, analyzes and files information from web servers at many times the speed of a human. More than half of all web traffic is made up of bots.

Emerging Trends

BLOCK CHAIN

A blockchain, originally block chain, is a growing list of records, called blocks, which are linked using cryptography. Each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data (generally represented as a merkle tree root hash). By design, a blockchain is resistant to modification of the data. It is "an open, distributed ledger that can record transactions between two parties efficiently and in a verifiable and permanent way". For use as a distributed ledger, a blockchain is typically managed by a peer-to-peer network collectively adhering to a protocol for inter-node communication and validating new blocks. Once recorded, the data in any given block cannot be altered retroactively without alteration of all subsequent blocks, which requires consensus of the network majority.

QUANTUM COMPUTING

Quantum computing is computing using quantum-mechanical phenomena, such as superposition and entanglement. A quantum computer is a device that performs quantum computing. They are different from binary digital electronic computers based on transistors. Whereas common digital computing requires that the data be encoded into binary digits (bits), each of which is always in one of two definite states (0 or 1), quantum computation uses quantum bits, which can be in superpositions of states. A quantum Turing machine is a theoretical model of such a computer, and is also known as the universal quantum computer. The field of quantum computing was initiated by the work of Paul Benioff and Yuri Manin in 1980, Richard Feynman in 1982, and David Deutsch in 1985.

AV/VR

VR as an Audio Visual Technology. By Dan Daley, Special to InfoComm International® Like a video game, virtual reality (VR) technology allows participants to experience the world in simulated environments. But it may also change the game for the AV businesses.

                                                            Expert Game

We did a funny game in 24/06/2018  at B11 212 @ University of Kelaniya. In this game Lecturer divided us into 5 groups There were eight members in each of groups. In our group there were 8 members initially. In the first day there were only 7 members in our group. There are,

  1. Praneeth
  2. Champika
  3. Dilan
  4. Ashen
  5. Dinindu
  6. Tharindu
  7. Sampath
  8. Rajeiha
  9. Kesavan
  10. Thadsayini
In our group all of the members had different kind of talents and experience in some tasks. So we it helped to us during the presentation.
Then we cateogarized them to chose  a topic for our presentation.

  • The one who is good at cooking took the post of chief.
  • The one who is good at financial activities took the responsibility of the cashier.
  • The one who is good at social networking took the liability of the marketing side.
  • The one who good at driving took the responsibility of the delivering products.
  • Other were the supportive staff.

During the presentation each one of the group presented their respective
responsibilities  and liabilities. We mainly focused on traditional food because those foods are relatively not in the market. So as a solution for that with the help of modern technology we presented the way of producing and delivering those products.

In addition to our group other group too came width new innovative ideas. Those presentation were also very interesting.

Form this task all of us got to know how to perform a presentation correctly. The abilities of students were highlighted during the game. Also we all enjoyed from this game.

                                      The Round Robin

In 19th of June we did the very enjoyable game in GNCT lecture. We were divided to 3 groups. There were about 10 members in a group. we all had to make a story separately as group.
One person each groups start the game from write one word on the whiteboard in this game. After other members build the story. But during one person is writing a word and giving the signal from him other one to give chance, other members have to close the eyes. And also One person can write one words at once.
However there were some mistakes by each teams . All are make very interesting story thought there is an mistake. We could get some photographs after did the game.

The photo which is above in, presents our story. If there some mistake, it is a nice story.
Some of the pictures which we could get are following.

However that day was a fun day because this game. Also we could get the improve our English language ability by using make sentences in unexpected time.
